This is an excellent series about three siblings, orphaned at a young age, who have found themselves shuttled from one bad orphanage to another. Eventually they wind up in a mystical island in an old mansion where they find a secret passage containing a book that enables them to time travel. You will hear echoes of Lemony Snicket in this one, with just a dash of Harry Potter. I listened to the audio version, which is narrated by Jim Dale--which probably accounts for the HP associations in my mind. I loved it, and can't wait to listen to the next one!
