(3.5 stars) i was SO excited to read this bc i’m a huge fan of the velvet underground and their song inspired by this book :’))) honestly i was absolutely enamoured with the story in the beginning, i loved the philosophical discussions between the narrator and venus, all other discussions in the book afterwards seemed so mf lame in comparison :/ also severin is a fucking dunce and an asshole and i firmly blame him for what happened with wanda cuz he PUSHED HER !!!!!!!!! a living breathing woman actually saw him as worthy of her love and he, being the slimy little worthless rodent he was, would not shut the FUCK up about wanting to be her slave! and when she finally obliged him, he got his balls in a twist and went insane ??? and FOR WHAT????? u can tell this book was written by a man (and it’s funny cuz it’s based off his irl experiences too) but the writing is so beautiful that sometimes i could ignore the fact that the protagonist is a pathetic piece of shit greasy freakazoid
