This conclusion to the Prison Healer series made everything I didn't like about the end of the first book worth it. The stakes escalated in all the right ways, the slowburn really burned but really paid off, the magic and my knowledge of it was super satisfying, and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. I loved Kiva and Jaren and all her friends, and the sense of contentment and justice I felt for the way everything ended. A wonderful conclusion that really made the whole series shine despite my love-hate relationship with it in the middle there.
