Everything that everyone is saying about this book is so true. I loved it so much. It's such a cute little story and I think the narrator is probably my favorite character. He's so funny. I literally couldn't stop myself from laughing out loud while I was listening at work.
With this narration style you do have a big degree of separation from the characters but I really didn't mind it. I think it worked because I was listening to the audiobook and I could pretend I was listening to a folktale or something. But even though there was less showing, I still felt for the characters and loved them, especially Tress. She's just a girl that was content in life but fell in love with someone who was kidnapped so she had to go save him. She wasn't looking to be a hero or change the world. Sometimes those are the best characters because you get to watch them grow and realize that though they might have been happy where they were, they were definitely missing out on a lot of things that could make them even happier. I love those kinds of stories. And who doesn't love an adventure story filled with pirates, dragons, and witches?
This is such a good book and if you're looking for a little lighthearted and funny adventure story, this is perfect for you.
