Faye Spencer has never been a sound sleeper. She has concurrent nightmares and constantly talks in her sleep. Also, she sleepwalks and sometimes it's hard to understand if she's awake or just walking in her sleep. Her fiance Felix Blackwell knew all these within a very short period after they started dating. He pretty much got used to all of Faye's weird habits. But everything turned for worse when they went for a little trip deep into the mountains.

Something lurks in the shadows outside of the little cabin there. Someone calls out to Faye at night and they're not necessarily human. Felix starts hearing creepy sounds and sees things that just can't be real. And he feels like he doesn't know Faye at all nowadays cause her every action is unsettling. What's the source of Faye's nightmares and the thing in the dark latching onto her? What does it want? Will they ever be able to return back to normal? Is he losing Faye?

My thoughts :

Apart from scaring me out of my mind, the book didn't do much. It's a little bit annoying in the middle because of the unnecessary dragging. And the writing style is not exactly mind blowing so it was hard to keep reading and remain invested in the story. Once or twice I thought I don't even wanna know the ending or what happens to the characters. I didn't feel attached to any of them. Faye totally got on my nerves.

It's a tad pathetic how promising the beginning of the story was and how much of a letdown the last chapters were.

As for the scariness I'll give it ten out of ten. At least I got something out of this. Feels amazing to read something and then not being able to sleep with the lights off😂 It's thrilling for me.
