Haunting and atmospheric. A tale about the power of stories, crumbling foundations, and rebuilding. Ava’s ability to paint dark fairytales is sprinkled throughout this young adult mystery. While her usual writing style has been simplified for a younger audience, her genius still peeks through in many ways. I cried multiple times towards the end and fell in love with the gentle romance at the heart of the storm.
