The near-constant Disney references really killed the vibe of what could have otherwise been a totally normal romance story. What the author was trying to describe as awkward really came across more as an autistic hyperfocus, and tbh the female lead would have been more sympathetic if she’d been canonically neurodivergent, but instead she came across as an infantilized mess. I think the Hot But Tortured Billionaire CEO’s Tragic Backstory had a lot of promise, but ultimately wasn’t fleshed out enough to explain his behavior/personality, and so his 180 personality change as a result of True Love felt pretty jarring and hard to believe, and the resolution at the end didn’t make a lot of sense given the information we were provided about his Tragic Backstory. His story is proof that men will grind to become a billionaire and completely isolate themselves instead of going to therapy.
