This was kind of like My Year of Rest and Relaxation but for a depressed, alcoholic (drug addict?) 20 something girl working as a bouncer at a Nashville music venue. Much more vibes than plot but the vibe of drinking, drugs, rinse and repeat got old after the first 50 pages. That said, the author did make me feel like I was right there and her descriptions were perfect.

I just couldn’t move past the traumatic and unnecessary thing that happened just over 2/3 of the way in :/ that did not lead our character into any self reflection or change at all, but I guess that’s people. I considered not finishing after that scene but had to see if she learned from it (she did not)

Like I said, more vibes than plot, so a movie or TV adaptation might work better but with that certain scene altered.

The dialogue format took me out of the story a bit as I had to work harder to follow along.
