When We Were Bright and Beautiful by Jillian Medoff

Did not finish book. Stopped at 14%.
DNF-ed 50 pages in. I've heard so much hype but I was so bored. The characters were just insufferable, the way they related to each other was so odd.
Cassie spent the first 5 chapters saying "Dad" and then all of a sudden there's a tragic backstory just thrown in and he is now "Lawrence."
It just felt so randomly thrown in, and I knew it didn't bode well for the rest of the book.

Most ultra-wealthy people are not that self aware of their privileges, either. It was like a non-wealthy person's shallow interpretation of what a wealthy person would be like, which is fine, but a good author really embodies the characters even if they're different from them, and this one missed the mark.
