The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner
4.0

I did not know what I was getting into when I started reading this book, and I was definitely not expecting what I got. The beginning was hard to get through, mostly because I had no idea what was going on. That being said, once I got to the end- where it’s more clear what is happening- I was able to piece together the beginning sections. It was very satisfying to read something and be able to connect it back to something I read before. I couldn’t re read because I had to return it to the library, but I did read the synopsis on SparkNotes and that cleared up anything that confused me (it took me a while to get through it because I was busy, so I didn’t remember everything from the beginning). I didn’t really enjoy the process of reading it, but I don’t think it’s a book you’re supposed to enjoy anyway. It’s a book you’re supposed to think about a lot- it’s not really over when you’re done reading it, you have to take time to sort of process and form opinions and understand exactly what you just read. It feels important, but it takes time to figure out why. It’s very thought provoking and I imagine it will be even better when I eventually re read.
