The Midnight Palace
by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
You can see the author developing his style, creating a web of mysteries that are still a bit easy to follow, but if that's what it takes to get where he is now as a writer, then I don't have a problem with it. I have finally realised what's the magic of Zafon's books to me. It's that part (or parts) when you have a person telling a story from the past, revealing a mystery. This is what Zafon does best and these are my favorite parts of his books. I enjoyed reading this one, however, I felt that the kids in the story were a lot younger than sixteen. But then again, that's not really a big problem. The one thing that actually bothered me was Peake, his story being the most nonsensical for a person who had an 'important' role.
