really liked this. No, I really did.

Did the FL burst into tears at the drop of the hat for 15 chapters? Yeah. So what? It was understandable even though it was also silly at times but it was also like, endearing and sweet too. She’s a very feminine character and while sometimes those molds bug the ever loving sht out of me bc they’re usually done so poorly (internalized misogyny anyone?), I actually don’t hate them at all. In fact, I tend to relate to them MORE.

If she were leading a rebel army of majestic woodland elves on the backs of unicorns tho- this would be, perhaps, a totally different conversation- but she’s not and I’m not offended that she’s so soft and squishy. 🤍🤍🤍 Again, I personally dug it.

This was a slow build at the start but it felt like it was worth it. At its core I think this was bordering on Lighthearted Contemporary. There’s not really anything that happens in this that’s worthy of being called Angst. Yea, she chickens out for a minute and leaves, yea, the stalker and the media hounds. But even in the midst of all of those plot points, this was an inarguably even keeled paced read.

I’ll admit tho- because there’s always something- there were some things that bugged me while I read. Silly as it may be, and not that it mattered at all in the long run with my rating but the word choices this author used were… well, a choice.

Within the first five chapters I had never seen the word “mightn’t” used so much in my entire life. I get shudders now as I spell it. 🥶 It was the oddest sprinkle of slang or vocabulary or whatever and it seriously tripped me up for a sec. Thankfully, after a couple more chapters that word ceases to exist in the remaining book so thank god but there were other odd word choices I noticed that made me tilt my head in thought like, “Can you use that word like that???”.

It also might be worth mentioning the baby is clearly related to Sleeping Beauty as this was his sole convenient character trait throughout the novel- but hey, I’m not trying to be picky here….

Wait, wait, wait. Ok. One last thing that itched at me I swear- THOUGH ITS STILL NOT A KNOCK! Devon, one of the ML’s and the resident Billionaire in the groups midst, well… some of his reactions to crises were, to me, a bit like, “and he runs a business??”. Just, questionable overall. At one point he just storms into a room full of lawyers and managers and public relations and other important whoever’s and demands “I don’t care if you have to buy the whole company!! Fix it!!!” And then storms out. Like: 😳 bruh. He runs his own billion dollar company?? This is his game face?

But, aside from those one off’s? All in all? I liked this. I really did. Very cute. Super sweet. Very low energy on its readers part and that’s just perfect sometimes. 💗
