Medusa was abandoned by her parents, to be raised by her "monstrous" but loving sisters.  The  Olympians gods are paranoid, narcissistic, raging ego maniacs.  Perseus is a teenage thug.  Wonderfully rich characters, events are both petty and horrific.  Utterly compelling.  Beautifully written.
