This was one of the best books in the series so far (I'm reading in publish order) and possibly more fun than The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It was close to being great but it felt like, at points, Lewis was almost holding back from letting loose and just writing the most fun story he could. Similar to the previous book, Prince Caspian, Aslan felt unnecessary to me in this book. As he seems to become more of a deity the other characters must pray to and believe blindly in for good things to happen versus an active participant the way he was in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, his presence detracts from the overall story for me.

Derek Jacobi did a wonderful job narrating the audiobbook.
