All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

5.0

I really enjoyed the format of the book, small chapters focused on individual characters. Sometimes I would get impatient, if I was really into a characters story and it would end in a page, but generally, this writing style kept me engaged and excited. The characters themselves are very lovable- makes one root for them. Also loved that the brutality of the war is showcased in an indirect manner- through the journey of the characters. It's definitely an emotional book though and broke my heart a couple times. With the characters, I found myself looking back at their beautiful past, hoping they get another chance to live that. Another reason I loved this book is that it didn't skimp on the technical details, letting the reader choose how much they want to invest in it.
