Book number 2 in the Parasol Protectorate. Some of the characters I found endearing in book one now became a bit annoying to me. Alexia's best friend Ivy is so dreadfully unaware of the calamity occurring right under her nose ALL THE TIME that her silly musings about etiquette became so maddening that I just wanted to skip over parts. And while I found Lord Akeldama's terms of endearment charming in book 1, I grew tired of it in book 2. It was as if there was a race to see how many silly endearments one could be called in a book. Squash bottom? It just grew tiresome. I did however enjoy the moments between Alexia and Lord Maccon. Somewhat disappointed that book 2 did not hold the magic for me as book 1 did. Solid 2.75 rating. I'm not sure I will be listing to book 3 in the series.
