Complicated
While some parts are engaging (such as “The Empire and the Healer”), regrettably had to force myself through most of the book because Celaena genuinely reads as a teenager in the sense that she is both naive and overconfident in her own abilities (about which she constantly brags). More notably, this is a challenging read because she has been and continues to be the victim of mental, emotional and physical abuse , and her abuser continues to be a major presence in her life.
Graphic: Emotional abuse, Physical abuse, Toxic relationship, Violence, Sexual harassment, Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Misogyny, Pedophilia, Slavery, Xenophobia, Trafficking
