Absolutely amazing. I imagine this will be one of my favorites for a while. I generally don’t love books that change narrators yet Gyasi more than kept me captivated. Little pieces of the full story keep being revealed through each new character leaving you on the edge of your seat. Gyasi went so much deeper than just telling a story though. This novel made you begin to feel the depths of injustices toward Africans and African Americans because of the slave trade & racism while reminding the non-African & non-African American reader that they will never truly understand the pain & loss suffered (& current suffering). My words cannot do this book justice. It was brilliant. I didn’t love how it ended, but I’m not sure any ending could have satisfied me because I just didn’t want the story to stop.
