Heat of the Everflame by Penn Cole
2.0
This was such a slog to get through. The pacing was absolutely horrible. Will not be continuing this series. The author was trying to fit in so much into this one book and it should have been spread out more. I also think the author genuinely has a hard time writing and maintaining the information? She would talk about Diem being somewhere with someone, and then the next page Diem is leaving the someone, and then the next page shes really far away with this someone⦠that she just left a while ago? This happened constantly, it was very confusing where everyone was, where Diem was, and who was on whose side, because it felt like the author could not make up her mind. Betrayal is good when done well, this was not. the only things this book contained was battle action, betrayal, kidnapping, almost killing her dragon thing, and then lots of death and whatever I almost DNFd so many times and honestly, wish I had.
Graphic: Confinement, Death, Emotional abuse, Gore, Torture, Kidnapping, Grief
Moderate: Animal cruelty
