I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one (it just felt more developed and had a more nuanced approach to trauma shaping a person) but the ending felt like it dragged a little.
I also wish it had been made a little clearer that Creigh was running away from everything just as much an Anika was especially regarding the escape to the island. But that’s just a little nitpick frustration I had as a reader that made my faith start to waver. Overall though I really enjoyed it!
Graphic: Abandonment
Moderate: Child abuse, Toxic relationship, Mental illness, Gun violence, and Violence
Minor: Murder and Suicide
