Reading this explained a lot to me about the TV version - and actually made me really respect the adaptation as the show takes less detailed situations and characters, such as the priest who's mad that he didn't get taken up inn the Rapture or whatever it was, and fleshes them out with powerful results. A very good book and commentary on contemporary life.
