This book wasn't quite as fast paced as the first imo so it was a little slower going for me. I was ready to see Abel and Noemi back together right away and pining or acting on their feelings or what have you. I think what this book helped me realize is that I love me a romance book with a scifi plot on the side (as opposed to a scifi story with a dash of romance). This book did have a lot of plot going on that I'm not sure felt as cohesive with the first book as it could have. It read like the author wrote the first book, saw that people wanted more, and had to come up with more plot for the second book. I could be totally wrong tho and maybe I missed some clues to the second book from when I first read Defy the Stars. What I mean to say is I feel like the books could have felt more uniform if they hinted at
Haven and the wealthy Earthens deserting Loop
in the first book. It would have been a very easy thing to implement I think without giving too much away still. I am looking forward to reading the final book even though Cindy (I initially started reading the book bc of her recommendation) said that it was disappointing. I'm interested to see if I agree with that assessment and what I would have wished from the book instead!
