The Long Way Home
by Louise Penny
This is number 10 in the wonderful Armand Gamache series by Louise Penny. I have read all but number 5; I somehow missed it and have not gone back. Chief Inspector Gamache has retired from the Surete and retreated to Three Pines, the small village which has seen its share of murders. He will not be left in peace as one of the villagers, Clara, an artist has a problem. This was not my favorite in the series as they were many repetitive visual descriptions of paintings and other pieces of art. I was more interested in the plot moving along and I felt it took a while to get going. For Gamache fans, it is a worth reading to keep up with the series; for those new to Gamache, start at the beginning with Still Life.
