It's a beautifully written book and easy to get lost into. I feel like it is the authors love letter to Virginia Woolf which is great. However there are aspects of the book that rubbed me the wrong way. So much of the description around the women is around their physical looks. The references to nipples and breasts as a character trait was annoying and I found the suggestion of incest a bit reductive. I get that the author wanted to portray the sexuality of his Virginia character but the plot felt force fitted.
I unde stand why the book won a Pulitzer but it also seemed to pander to what is considered award winning quite a lot. Overall I enjoyed the book and found myself getting lost in it. The author does do a brilliant job of vivid scenery and feeling as he takes you through the story
