I am really unsure how I feel about the book. The beginning especially had factors that made me uncomfortable and confused. this mainly being the two sided obsession between a barely 16 year old and a ten year older man, as well as the random "prophecies" by Merlin. You tell anyone they're not allowed to kiss people once and they don't ask why, but three times? Why don't you ask why and what doesn't he want you to and why is this not a topic at all anymore from the point that Ash and Greer are together?
The rest of the book had a bunch of miscommunication/ not telling each other everything, which I'm not a big fan of. I can understand Greer's POV, but Ash went about it way more strategic, which again can come across a bit manipulative.
And lastly Greer's BEST FRIEND... Why is she your best friend? She seems to be mean to you throughout your whole teenage and young adult life and thenthe secret service warns you through your future husband that she seems to be up to something and she randomly asks you at which hotel you're staying at? You're supposed to read people well, you've practised that your whole life you keep saying. You should know anyways that no one should know where you, the first lady and the president are staying. Need to know basis. But no, we tell her, don't expect anything. I couldn't enjoy their wedding night at all because I just kept waiting for something to happen either right then or at the latest in the morning.
I will continue the series, since it somehow did hook me, but it did so in a very split way. As visibly by my rant that I usually don't have after finishing a book.
