⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️.5. This book was okay… I fear that it steered too much off course from the original FMC Cal and MMC Mendax. I was okay with Eli taking a side branch of the main story but I was so wishing to feel more completed about Cal and Mendax. We missed so much of them that we could’ve seen (their wedding night, balancing/claiming the realm, dealing with fae that disagreed). I couldn’t quite get a good grounding to connect with Anna. I really did like the tiers and trials as group they went through. My favorite scene is with Thistle having her moment in the Red Key Game. Brexley had me laughing and crying so much. I love him but unfortunately it felt a lot like a start to a different series than an ending to a series that I’ve enjoyed so much.
