Ali: A Life by Jonathan Eig

4.0

An intimate biography of Ali, from the beginning, focusing more on the complicated (and ever-evolving) man than on his fights, though the boxing is also documented in some detail. Eig shows us the balance of Ali's majestic athletic, charitable and political moments with his serious personal flaws, not the least of which were his overwhelming addiction to multiple women and vast sums of money. Well written and readable, Ali remains an important and powerful figure in America's history.
