Abby Jimenez is just incapable of writing a book that is anything short of magic. From the jump, they are captivating and beautiful and emotional. I also LOVE that they have ties to her other books - it makes it a super fun reading experience! This book had a sweet premise where the two main characters have a "curse" that they are always the last people that their partners date before meeting their soulmates. To break this, the MMC and FMC decide to fake date each other to try and break the curse. Of course, they fall in love, and what ensues for the rest of the book is just sweet, romantic bliss for readers. I found a lot of the book relatable, particularly between Justin and Emma's relationships with their mothers (super dysfunctional and deeply sad). The great thing about Jimenez's books is that she can write a gorgeous love story and then turn around and rip your heart out with her ability to write deeply flawed and emotionally complex characters. During Jimenez's promotion of this book, she announced her next book and it honestly cannot come soon enough.
