This book was mesmerizing and frustrating and beautiful and disappointing and still utterly satisfying. Whatever it lacks in conventional ideas and expectations of plot development, it more—very much more—than makes up for in prose. This is a poet's novel, and it shows. Although I'm not entirely swayed by the story told, I'm utterly smitten with the language it's told with.
