Sway
by Adriana Locke
Hands down Adriana Locke has done it again! She wrote a story that revolves around politics (a setting that I rarely read about) that had me captivated at the beginning and all throughout the read. This was also a fabulous intro the Landry Family.
"It's hard to believe in yourself when you aren't sure you've ever accomplished anything on your own."
Alison Baker has reach a juncture point that gave her the drive to rebuild a life for her and her son, Huxley. A tough single mom, with the will to give the best she has and more to the one person that matters the most, her pride and joy, Huxley. She refuses to give into anything more to the opposite sex especially after the life lessons she learned from her first marriage. However, her plans becomes "Sway"ed into a different direction when an encounter with Mayor Barrett Landry comes into mix.
"If there's one thing I've learned over the last few years, it's that you can never predict what's life going to throw at you one day to the next, just like you can't predict the weather."
When one meets Mayor Barrett people will easily fall for his words and his charms. I mean he can even have me swooning at "Hello." He is classy, smart, hardworking, and has morals in wanting to do things that is right for the people rather than himself. He has his share of mistakes and accomplishments but he presents himself humbly. When he meets Alison he starts to feel more but being in the public eye and keeping his personal life private is a challenge that he is constantly facing.
"I want you to be my girl in every sense of the word. We can still go slow, but just do it openly. I don't see the harm in that."
Barrett Landry totally has my vote! As someone who usually does not read books entailing government settings this read was so not what I had expected and I freaking LOVED <3 it! I was all over the place with a diversity of feels and at one point it surprisingly even had me teary eyed. Even having Huxley in the story was the perfect addition that had me wanting to hug him to pieces. The book left me with such an impression (I even needed to calm and gather my emotions) into the Landry family that I am itching for more and cannot see what else this series has to offer. ~Cristina, ★★★★★ 5 stars

I LOVED IT. I freaking loved and devoured every single moment of this book. I can't even. I think this is the first I've ever read that has something to do with politics and Adriana Locke just nailed it. I was swayed and hooked and addicted right from the very beginning. Barrett Landry and Alison Baker were just too perfect together. And then add Huxley and the other Landry family members to the mix and it just goes well above and beyond. I already want to read it again and it hasn't even been two minutes of me finishing the book yet!
Barrett Landry. Holy God almighty, Mayor Landry. Can you be any classier, hotter, smarter, sweeter??? One thing I know for sure—you've definitely, definitely got my vote. A hundred and ten percent. I loved all things about this man. He may have not handled everything right the first time, but who the heck does that? Those bumps on the road just made him even more desirable for me. You'll see how hard he strives to achieve his goals, he does his best to make things happen, he learns from his mistakes, he sets his priorities straight and best of all, he loves so fiercely, generously and so passionately. The way he accepted and intertwined Alison and Huxley into his life is enough to melt even the coldest and hardest of hearts. He may be a powerful member of the community, but with his family, with Alison, he's just another regular man in love. And Alison Baker—gosh, the things she went through in the past was just downright cruel that nobody deserves to experience. All of her fears and insecurities aside, she's still one of the strongest, bravest women I've ever read about. Especially with Huxley. She's had a hard life since she had him, juggling studying and working a couple of jobs, wearing herself down to the last thread. Yet she never stopped pushing and being determined to see her way through for her and Hux. I certainly felt and understood her doubts. But I, too, felt so proud of her when she found the courage to move forward, even if it was slowly and step-by-step.
And oh my goodness, did I mention Huxley? I love that boy something fierce! I don't think I've ever loved nor adored a kid like him this much. Ever. He makes my heart soar and over the top happy that it wants to just burst into sparkles all over. He's such a great kid. I love how protective he is of his mom. How he's so mature fora ten-year old an almost eleven-year old to understand what's going on and act the way he does. It's like the entire time, I was thinking: I want my kid to be just like this boy. You feel deep to your core how much he loves and puts his mom first and above anything. And that alone is such a huge accomplishment for any mother.
With Sway being the first book in this series, I loved how each Landry sibling was introduced and I truly enjoyed the diversity in the family. The closeness and tight bond they have is just amazing. It actually makes you crave to be one or a part of them. Without an ounce of doubt, I'm already looking forward to the following books after this one. Barrett has set the bar so high up that I'm sure the next ones will be just as great or even better than this. That being said, I'm so excited to know Lincoln's story!
Adriana Locke completely wows and astounds us again with her spectacular play on words, humor, romanceand grapes in the first book of the Landry Family series. Truthfully, I will never be able to look at grapes the same way ever again without even a smidgen of Barrett Landry popping into my head. Adriana makes it all unforgettable and seem like it's not enough, making you want so much more. She truly has this special way of sharing a romantic tale that will leave you breathless and have you anticipating what her next move will be.
I just officially got graped by Barrett and he utterly got my vote in this. Don't forget—#VoteLandry! ~Renery, ★★★★★ 5 stars
