Sometimes, truth is stranger than fan fiction. Washed-up former star and heartthrob of "The Arcane Files", a long-running werewolf detective show, is hitting a death spiral fame-wise. In the midst of trying for a reboot of the show that brought him fame and fortune, he keeps having the pesky problem of waking up naked with no memory of what happened in the woods near his home - coincidentally, on the night of the once-in-a-century Wolf Blood Moon. Desperate for answers as to what's going on and where the claws, fangs, and howling came from, he reaches out to the online fan forum for "The Arcane Files". Unfortunately for him, the real-life, small-town Mod of the forum hates her guts (Alexa, play "Kill Your Heroes" by AWOLNATION). 150K words, werewolf X fangirl, E.

This book felt like a love letter for everyone who grew up watching paranormal shows in the 90s and 2000s and/or has ever spent any time on AO3. The premise is exactly the kind of fan fiction I think anyone who was ever into Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed, or any of these types of shows would come up with, and the execution was 10/10. I loved the idea of a chronically online internet queen getting the wildest fantasy of her dreams and finding redemption and acceptance in her place in the world; I love the idea of a superstar having a cosmic come-down and learning to love the little things (while navigating eye, claws, and jaws), and I loved the community vibes, the found family, the queer support, and the nostalgic feelings this book brought along for the ride. The spice was spicing in the best way (as anyone who's read fan fic before know it can be) and I think if you didn't have a thing for age gap or zaddies before, you may be finding yourself in new sections of the library after this book. Thank you Rosie, please also tell me more about the will-they-wont-they vampire in another book because I need closure!!!
