emotional lighthearted mysterious sad tense medium-paced

1.5

I really liked book one of this series but this one was just disappointing tbh. Evie's life was in danger and it felt as if no one around her other than Micah and his colleagues took that seriously. Her friend and sister were more concerned about her getting laid, her brother kept popping up and then disappearing and her parents only took Chase (her son) with them when they should've pushed her to stay with them even if she was acting unreasonable. Micah & Evie definitely had some chemistry but I couldn't feel the love between them. Also, I didn't like how the part about Micah bonding with Chase was just told but not shown. It would've been nice if we got to see Micah actually interacting with Chase more than he did. The plot was supposed to be mysterious and thrilling but I felt like it was handled very lightly than it should've been. The only parts I liked in this book were when Micah took Evie & Chase to Montana and the last few chapters with the epilogue. Other than that, I had no interest in the plot.
