Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl
4.0

I love this little book.

When I was a kid Roald Dahl was not an author that ever got read or published. So the only book I ever read was this one: The Fantastic Mr. Fox

I don't have much to say about this book; it’s one of those works that’s less well known than Matilda or Cat in the Hat, but even still, everyone know what it is, especially now, with the Wes Anderson movie.

Mr. Fox lives in his burrow with Mrs. Fox and their 3 children, near 3 farms. Every night he asks Mrs. Fox what she wants for dinner: a chicken from the chicken farm, a goose from the goose farm or a turkey and some cider from the apple farm. However, one night the three farmers have enough of Mr. Fox’ stealing and decide to hunt him down. Shenanigans ensue.

I love the little quips Mr. Fox makes, how over-the-top horrible and disgusting the farmers are, how bent on KILLING Mr. Fox they are and even the ridiculous moral of the story? Like yest the farmers are horrible and a little too trigger happy, but Mr. Fox has been stealing from their farms for years. So with the risk of sounding like Ayn Rand,... they are right? Even Mr. Badger points this out, and gets laughed at. Poor guy.

Regardless, this is a super fun book, I loved reminding myself of how much I love it, and it made me very hungry.
