I wanted to love this so badly but I don't know. I saw someone else say that this book would've benefited from a dual timeline situation and I think that's exactly what this book was missing.
Dani and Wouter's love story is very much a second-chance romance but the issue is that they really never fell out of love with each other so we don't really get to see those feelings developing. Instead, we have this understanding of chemistry and feelings that already exist but I didn't feel it at any point. They were both kind of just existing and pining and the payoff took FOREVER!!!!!
I'm a fan of slow burn but this was really painful especially because all they needed to do was have a conversation about their teenage stupidity and insecurity.
I will say, the book definitely improved after they got together, and the spice... wow... this is definitely Solomon's spiciest book to date but inevitably they were together and then torn apart so quickly that I was just more frustrated than anything.
If you're looking for a book that's more a love letter to Amsterdam than a swoony second-chance romance, this may be a better book for you than it was for me 🤷♀️
