I read this series because my younger brother (by 14 years) liked them. I wanted to encourage him to read, so I read these so we could talk about them together (it's hard enough to find things in common for a brother & sister without the 14 year age span).

Did I love them? No. But I loved the conversations they inspired and how they enabled me to suggest other literature to a reluctant-to-read-adolescent.
