Food Fight Fiesta: A Tale About La Tomatina
by Tracey Kyle
We received an ARC from the author. All opinions are our own.
Tracey Kyle is the Queen of Tomatoes! We are huge fans of her book Gazpacho for Nacho, and this food-themed book keeps up!
There is less Spanish vocabulary here, but we learned a lot about La Tomatina, an annual food fight festival in Bunol, Spain. This one drew the 8-year-old from across the room when she heard me reading aloud to the 6-year-old. What's not to love about a fiesta where you're allowed to throw tomatoes. (I especially loved reading about the rules in the author's note!)
The book is told in Kyle's signature rhyme, which brings added fun to the story. Both of her books are great mentor texts for anyone working on rhyming picture book structures.
