Once Cary found his groove in writing this book I didn't want to put it down!
The Princess Bride meant a LOT to me growing up and was one of my comfort movies. This book is such a great background look at the movie and what transpired behind the scenes (and in some outtakes that sound hilarious, written in a way it feels like the reader is there sharing the joke as well!)
I met Cary Elwes a few years ago at a Comic-Con and was so excited to shake THE Westley's hand! I felt so embarrassed for a long while when he told me to have a great day at the con, and what did I do? I hit him with an "As you wish" (he smiled and i almost tripped because how else do you walk away from a guy that was a huge part of your childhood? Walk away casually without tripping?! Have you met me? 😅) After reading this book I'm actually really glad that I said that even though he no doubt forgot about me the instant I walked away from his booth.
I also learned so much about the other people both working on the movie and actors for it - and now I want to know more about them as well as Cary wrote them in such a great light!
If you are contemplating reading this book - this is your sign to have fun storming the castle! (Or in simpler terms, do it!!)
