Finale by Stephanie Garber

how are you going to write such a mid book and then have one of the most beautiful endings. literally started C R Y I N G at that end for both Scarlett and Julian & Donatella and Legend.
what I loved the most about the first two books was the caraval games. I typically need a bit of mystery to help me get into a book. this didn't have any of the games that I loved so much, so that was extremely disappointing. in a way this book felt completely out of place in the series, and I was quite upset with how this trilogy ended. I think I just am a hater with how trilogies end (see my issues with the infernal devices and the inheritance games series!!!!)
I liked legend as a character, but I was BEYOND over with the constant flip flopping. "no, I can't love you or else I won't be immortal." "now I'm ready to love you, tella." "no, legend, don't love me I don't want you to lose your immortality." "okay I won't." "but wait legend I love you." like please give it a rest.
I absolutely hate the character of Jacks and do not find him compelling AT ALL. it is why I've made the decision to not read once upon a broken heart.
I will say I was pleasantly surprised with Julian and Scarlett's romance arc. it was very sweet. legend and tella's ending with a letter literally made me want to throw up it was so sweet- I had tears streaming down my face. like the PERFECT ending.
kind of random having Scarlett now be an empress but alright I guess.
the whole Gavriel storyline was just boring. I was struggling to get into this and finish it, honestly. also the whole back to the future plot? girl- I was so done with that, lol. it seemed way too forced. I think it could've been done better to not feel like such fan service.
garber does write in such a beautiful way, so I have to give her that.
