The atmosphere in this book is relentless! From the crumbling houses to the dread that seeps through every page, Pearce creates a gothic, almost claustrophobic world. The haunted past of the town and its characters adds depth to the eerie tension. But while the buildup had me hooked, the twist left me wanting more. After all that suspense, the ending raised more questions than it answered, and I found myself frustrated instead of satisfied. Still, the mood alone makes it a memorable read.
