It feels good to cry when you haven't cried in a long time.

It's been a while since I've finished a non fiction book. Although the writing was simplistic, the character development of Jess Aaron, the personality of Leslie and the story line really drew me in. Her death and how the progression of his reactions - I couldn't stop crying, it felt so real and tragic.

The book was about a boy of 10 living in rural America and his relationship with a new girl Leslie, whose moved in from the city. They build a kingdom made just for them and Leslies character and attitude to life gradually changes his attitude to life. But she dies, and from that Jess is forced to process and grow up. That was a terrible summary I'll fix later.

I finished this book this afternoon. I wonder about Miss Edmunds, what her perspective on Jess and Leslie was and how her relationship with Leslie and Jess would have progressed as they got older. I wonder who Leslie would have been if she got the chance to grow up.

I don't want to forget how this book made me feel. I picked this book up ago not knowing anything about only that it had been made into a movie. It was a short read and I feel like I haven't spent enough time with the characters. What happens to a story you've read once it's words are forgotten?
