The Girl Who Saved Christmas
by Matt Haig
Considering that I haven’t read a book that was not for my age range in quit some time this was a fun quick read.
However I feel like it was a bit of a basic story. However this was made up to me because I liked the charters. (My favourite was captain Soot.)
I liked that the story was fast paste and easy to read. (But it will obviously be easy to read it’s for a younger demographic.)
But I do have some questions. Number one Amelia is a chimney Sweep. I swear back then woman weren’t even aloud to work. Also should Amelia be able to read? Because I swear back then you could only go to school if you could afford it and I don’t think Amelias family would be able to.
But anyway even though I do have questions I overall still enjoyed this. Simply because it’s a Christmas children’s story (What’s not to like?) It makes me remember when I was younger and always tried (but failed) to stay up on Christmas Eve night and try and spot Santa claws and his reindeer in the sky.
I honestly liked this more than I was expecting and if anything I’m more disappointed I didn’t read it sooner. My mum bought me this book about two years ago for Christmas and I’ve only just bothered to pick it up and read it. So I’m just disappointed in myself for that. But Matt Haig seems to be a good children’s author and maybe are read his other books in the future.
