I know I haven't been happy with this series so far but Oh. My. Soul. This book was amazing!! I finally felt like THIS is the Cassandra I know and love, there was something so much more authentic to this story than the rest of The Mortal Instruments books. I think the inclusion of the Carstairs and Blackthorns really opened up the world more, it introduced family members of characters I know and love and I definitely felt happy reading about them!
Sebastian really steps up in this book, he brought the villain and I was shook. I honestly cannot believe how psychotic he is and it literally gives me chills thinking about him! So absolutely brilliant! We also get so much more of Edom and I have to say that I really love being in the demon realms. I think that it really shows you a darker side to the world of Shadowhunters, like "this is real and this is terrible and now we have to do everything we can to save the world" kind of vibe. Not to mention everything that happened with Jem and Tessa and OMGosh, my soul is so happy after reading this book 😭🤍
The plot twists were really good, I honestly didn't see most of them coming because the TV show compared to the last 3 books in this series differed so much. The action was so brilliant! Magnus and Alex? My heart!! Meeting Asmodeus (Princes of Hell always for the win in my book). And I really loved that we finally get some Clary and Jace time where he isn't being possessed or stolen away, after 5 other books, we really needed that relationship development! This was a brilliant way to end the series and even though we left with a big question in the epilogue, it sort of continues in Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, I promise!
