Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Vol. 1 by CLAMP
5.0
This enchanting fantasy blends adventure, friendship, and a touch of romance. Childhood friends, Princess Sakura and Syaoran, haven't seen each other a lot in these past seven years. After his archeologist father's passing, Syaoran, a commoner, felt he couldn't accept the royal family's offer to stay in the palace. Now a successful archaeologist himself he begins working under the King’s rule to unearth a buried ruin.
Their time is cut short when Sakura touches an ancient artifact and loses all her memories. Determined to help her, Syaoran embarks on a perilous journey through time and space to restore them.
Joined by two other travelers – one by choice, one banished – they navigate fantastical alternate dimensions. Despite a touch of melodrama, the story is surprisingly enjoyable. The sweeping illustrations perfectly capture the weightlessness of time travel, adding another layer to the adventure. I absolutely love how much CLAMP intertwines their other stories and how this one feels like it’s the center point for the universes.
