Dear Heart, You Screwed Me by Ashlee Rose

emotional inspiring sad slow-paced

3.0

After tragically losing her fiancé in a freak medical accident, Reese needs a fresh start. After moving across the pond from England to New York, she makes fast friends & finds a dark and handsome stranger who intrigues her at every turn. They drunkenly elope, and feelings develop. When drama unfolds & lots of secrets come to light, they have no clue how to make any of it right.

I gave this story 3 ⭐️’s. I am easily entertained, and I love the best friend’s dad trope, as well as age gap. This story was right up my alley in that regard! I enjoyed the drama and secrets.

However, I felt the writing was not great. There were a lot of grammatical errors, which may have been a result of the vernacular of the author’s everyday life, but I’m not sure. There were also a lot of points in the story where the writing jumped or was almost looked over. We would be in the middle of a very descriptive scene taking place in Reese’s apartment and the next paragraph just jumped to her at work already. It felt rushed & simply wasn’t well thought out. I felt like this should have been on Wattpad. Iykyk.

Regardless of these writing issues, I still enjoyed this story. As I’ve said, I’m easily entertained. If you need the writing to be top notch, you probably will not like this.
