Blech. Read for a book club. Did mostly audio because the story is treacle and it did not warrant reading on the page. The narrator does several very bad southern accents, so over the top that I was reminded of the old Carol Burnett "Gone With the Wind Sketch" and felt compelled to go to YouTube and watch it. While it hasn't aged well in some respects, I laughed hard. Published in 2021, this book has no good excuse for it's clumsy handling of slavery history and race.
