There are a few books I wish I could re-read for the first time. This is one of them. Buckle up because Chiara is going to take you on a rollercoaster ride of plot twists.
The story begins with a focus on our FMC, Mareina, who is the assassin for the corrupt queen of Atratus. Unsurprisingly…she hates her job. We quickly discover that there is an elites v. commoners theme where the wealthy have access to a special drug, aetra, that amps up their fae powers. This added power allows them to continue to maintain control over the less wealthy fae who can’t afford the drug. While the corrupt queen originally waged war under the guise of equality to the masses, it has since become clear that it was no more than a power grab & a bulk of the citizens of Atratus live in poverty. This has lead to the rise of a Robin Hood-esc rebellion that the queen is desperate to squash.
Just as things are heating up between Mariena, and her best friend & elite fighter for the queen, Maleki…the queen sends Mareina off to hunt down the leader of the rebellion. But, fate has other plans for the assassin as karma from the past begins to take effect on her future.
If you are looking for a spicy romantasy series with a strong FMC and plot twists you won’t see coming…then READ THIS BOOK! It was fantastic & I can’t wait to see what happens next.
