Objectively such an amazing book. Her struggles coming to terms with her womanhood, religion, family, education, and the self was so intricate and honest. I genuinely cannot fathom someone who was in this unique kind of upbringing have affected their life and the sacrifices that come with it.

Also I don’t know if this is relevant but I am glad that she acknowledges how the events occurred have varying accounts so we may truly not know the exact story. Like what happened to Shawn’s accident, Luke’s leg on fire, and the explosion as she was not actually there when it took place. It shows that it is not gospel truth but nevertheless is still authentic and sincere because it still has affected her in one way or another.

I am glad that the author is at peace now even though she is not in good terms with the other family members. And this book was not only incredibly well-written, it was also extremely brave of her to tell her story.
