My first book from Abby Jimenez and I can’t wait to read more. I can’t believe I live by her cupcake shop and get them as treats for special occasions and don’t know until this summer that she owns it! This story was so well developed and covered really deep, intense subjects of trauma and family with such grace and care. As a therapist who usually reads romance novels to have a light escape I was a bit apprehensive of the premise, but Jimenez crafted lovable characters with believable flaws (“cracks”, IYKYK) that were taken seriously and addressed with empathy and respect. I haven’t loved a book this much since Evelyn Hugo and plan to get my hands on more of her books soon.
