The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff

5.0

This was just a good book. By the end of the year, this will for sure be in my top 10, if not the top 5.

I feel like the less you know plot-wise, the better, so here is my attempt at a synopsis...

The Plot
In a small village in India, Geeta used to live with her husband, before he left and never returned. The village didn't accept his sudden disappearance so easily. Instead, they whispered accusations that Geeta must have killed him and gotten away with it. It has been five years and Geeta is quite used to her reputation, but she never could have guessed that a woman would one day show up on her doorstep and require Geeta's assistance in doing away with her abusive husband. As things get messy, Geeta learns new truths about herself and her past. She even might get the chance to recover the childhood friendship she let slip away years ago.
