This book was recommended by people whose opinions I very much trust, and yet I still did not like it. Usually I LOVE dreamlike, poetic stories, especially in the scifi and fantasy genres, since the sheer creativity is so much fun. In this book, the plot points, character traits, and world building were all done a disservice by the prose. I wanted to love how experimental the structure was, but it dragged on and on and I did not connect with a single scene or character the entire time.
That said, I don't think this is a bad book-- I just don't think it clicked for me. I'm rating it low enough to signal my displeasure but not as low as I would rate a genuinely bad book.
